PetMoon interactive 3D

PetMoon, a leading pet supplies trading company, sought to redesign its website to reflect its innovative approach to pet care. They wanted to integrate interactive 3D elements that could later be used in their VR experience. The goal was to create a seamless transition between the website and virtual reality while enhancing the user experience through engaging, immersive visuals. Our team worked to combine modern UX/UI principles with interactive 3D elements to craft a more intuitive and dynamic browsing experience for PetMoon’s customers.

The main challenge was integrating 3D elements without overwhelming the user or slowing down the website's performance. We needed to ensure that the website could maintain usability and speed across multiple platforms while setting the stage for a future VR experience. The PetMoon team wanted a solution that not only represented their pet products in a unique and compelling way but also made navigation simpler and more engaging. Additionally, we needed to design the site with VR compatibility in mind, considering a smooth transition from 2D web interactions to immersive 3D VR environments.

Our UX process began with user research and competitor analysis. We discovered that users were looking for a more interactive and visually engaging way to shop for pet products, particularly when browsing categories such as the pet they were buying for. The research also revealed that many users struggled with navigating large product inventories, which led to frustration and abandonment. To address this, we decided to incorporate interactive 3D elements directly on the homepage. These 3D elements would serve as shortcuts to different product categories, providing users with a more engaging way to discover and navigate products.

The home page features interactive 3D icons representing key product categories—each icon was designed as a 3D object that users can click on to access the relevant section. For instance, a rotating 3D dog bone icon leads to the main brands, while a 3D dog leads to the most common pet users have. These elements were lightweight, optimized for quick loading times, and designed with clear interactivity to prevent any confusion. The filter page was fully redesigned with 3D characters that allow users to visually navigate pet types and enter the magazine. This filter page reflects the more immersive shopping experience they will access when VR shopping.

The PetMoon website redesign significantly increased user engagement and retention, with users spending more time exploring categories and interacting with the 3D elements. Feedback from customers highlighted the intuitive nature of the interactive 3D elements, which made browsing products fun and easier to navigate. Additionally, the seamless integration of 3D features laid the groundwork for the VR experience PetMoon plans to launch in the future. By designing with VR compatibility in mind, we ensured that the user journey between the website and VR experience would be fluid, providing a future-proof solution for PetMoon’s digital presence. Through this project, we successfully demonstrated how interactive 3D design can enhance user experience without sacrificing performance or usability.
